Kevin “Kato” Hammond is the owner of Take Me Out To The
Go-Go, Inc., editor and publisher of
Take
Me Out To The Go-Go Magazine,
executive producer of TMOTTGoGo DVD Magazine, host of "Kato & The TMOTT Crew
Morning Show" on
gogoradio.com and webmaster of
TMOTTGoGo.com.
Known for creating all these aspects of “The Official Gateway to a
Washington, DC Urban Culture,” Kato has been instrumental in educating the
local, national, and international masses about go-go music and DC
entertainment. He is an
award-winning playwright, accomplished musician, and acclaimed journalist.
His history as a musician includes performing and recording with Pure
Elegance, Little Benny & The Masters and Proper Utensils, and most recently
as co-music director of Fatal Attraction Band. Kato grew up in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, and attended Duke Ellington High School in Washington, DC and Bowie High School in Bowie, MD. Always a student to entertainment, he performed as a child in area organizations such as CUE (Children’s Urban Arts Ensemble), Bren-Carr Dancers and The T-N-T Poppers. At the age of 17, Kato wrote a play entitled "Buddies" that listed in the finalist division of the Joseph Papp’s New York Young Playwright’s Festival. This play was performed Off-Broadway and starred an up-and-coming actor at the time by the name of Denzel Washington.
